Planning Stage During the Advising Period
Course planning forms are available on the Web and at your department of major.
ž
Check your “Account Summary” on the Web. Get to the “Student Services” Menu and under “Student Records” click on “Account Summary”. Check if you have any outstanding balances and settle payment before advising/registration period. Clear your hold with the Accounts Office room Main 155.
Check your ‘registration status’ from the menu ‘Student Services’. Clear your hold(s) prior to the advising/registration period. A hold on your screen will not allow you to register for courses.
View your “Degree Audit Report” on ‘Web for Students’. Select the option from the “Student Service” menu. This report includes the courses you have completed and their grades, the courses for which you are currently registered and your remaining course requirements. Make sure to check this report before advising/registration for the Fall 2007 Semester to ensure that you are aware of all graduation requirements.
Make an appointment with your Academic Advisor in your Department of Major. Make sure to see your academic advisor for help with course selection.
Follow your degree program requirements.
Complete the core curriculum requirements and the Arabic Language and Literature requirements before your senior year.
Make sure you avoid conflict between courses you are selecting.
Make sure you have satisfied the prerequisites for each course you select.
Check the exam schedule to make sure that only one course is scheduled for each examination period. Keep in mind that if you choose two or more courses with final examinations scheduled for the same day, no special arrangements can be made to reschedule any of these exams.
Check your earned hours from the ‘registration status’ under “Registration and Schedule” and add to the earned hours, the credit hours that you are presently registered for during the Spring 2007 Semester. You need this information in order to know the time of your registration on the Web.
Only Junior and senior students are allowed to request an overload.
Both forms are available at your department of major.
Proceed to the Department Assistant with the signed form/s to place the permission on the system. You will not be able to process Web registration for that course if you do not complete this step.
Make sure to register for the lab which is associated with a course that requires both a lecture and a lab.
Obtain approvals on the “Independent Study Form” (if any), available at the Departments of Major, and submit it to the department offering the course. The department assistant will register the course for you on-line.
Make sure to plan for four alternative courses/sections in case places are not available in the original plan of courses.
Complete the “Course Planning Form”, sign it, and obtain the signature of the academic advisor on the form.
Add ‘call number’ of courses on the ”Course Planning Form” as this will help you when you register on the web.
Submit a copy of the “Course Planning Form” to the department assistant in your department of major and make sure to release your advising hold before you access ‘Web for Students’ for registration
