Courses scheduled on Sunday | | | All Students in the Science and Engineering School | | | -
Phys 100 /Math 100/ Chem 103/ Biol 103 | | | | Students requesting to register for Phys 100/ Math 100 are to proceed to the Freshmen Advisement Office to get an ‘authorization’ to take the course. The Freshman Advisor will check their secondary school certificate and intended major before giving her ‘authorization’. These courses are non-credit for Thanawiya Amma Science/ Math or equivalent and for majors in the Science & Engineering school. | | -
The following courses must be taken concurrently with the lab | | | | *PHYS 111 with lab 123 PHYS 112 with lab 124 **EENG 210 (same as CSCI 230, PHYS 319) with EENG 218 (same as CSCI 239, PHYS 309) *If your secondary school curriculum did not contain physics you should take PHYS 100 prior to taking PHYS 111. Obviously this does not apply to the Thanaweya Amma Math and Science curriculum or equivalent degrees. If in doubt be sure to check with your advisor.
If your secondary school curriculum contains college level chemistry (Thanaweya Amma Chemistry or equivalent) you can register for CHEM 105 without any problem. If this is not the case then you must take CHEM 100 first. Failure to observe this requirement will make it difficult if not impossible to complete CHEM 105 successfully. Consult your academic advisors if you are in doubt.
**When registering for EENG 210 (same as CSCI 230, PHYS 319): Concurrent with EENG 218 (same as CSCI 239, PHYS 309). Students will not be allowed to take the courses without the lab. | | | -
The following courses may be taken concurrently with their prerequisites | | | *CSCI 106 with Math 100 or Math 131 **PHYS 111 with Math 131 ***PHYS 112 with Math 132 *****PHYS 214 with PHYS 204 *If your secondary school curriculum contained college level preparation in mathematics (Thanaweya Amma Science or Math or equivalent) you can go ahead and register for CSCI 106 without any problems. On the other hand if your MATH background is not at that level you must take MATH 100 first. If you have any doubts about this consult with your academic advisor. Please note that as of Fall 2001 CSI 104 will be replaced by CSI 106 for all majors in the School of Sciences and Engineering.
**MATH 131 is listed as a prerequisite for PHYS 111. The Physics Department will allow MATH 131 to be a corequisite for students who have a sufficient calculus background in their secondary school curriculum [Generally Thanaweya Amma, Abitur, IB Diploma, IGCSE A Level Math ..etc]. Students whose background does not include sufficient calculus would be ill advised not to comply with the prerequisite requirement as Phys 111 is a calculus based course. If in doubt double check with your academic advisor.
***It is preferable but not essential to take MATH 132 before PHYS 112. If you have performed well in MATH 131 and PHYS 111 you can take MATH 132 and PHYS 112 concurrently. Otherwise you are advised to start with MATH 132. Under no circumstance should consider postponing MATH 132 to be taken after PHYS 112.
****For all majors except students who have declared Electronics Engineering, PHYS 204 is a concurrent requirement to PHYS 214. If you are intending to apply in order to declare Electronics Engineering and you are registering for PHYS 214 please be fully aware that your are doing this at your own risk. Failing to fulfill the requirements of the Electronics Engineering major may make PHYS 214 redundant. | | | -
All Students Majoring in Construction Engineering | | | | The Science elective concentration requirement must be a science course 200 level or higher, excluding Geology 250. Note : Computer Science courses are not considered a science elective. | | | | | | | |
